The Kaduna State Government has extended the ban on use of motorcycles, popularly known as Okada, for commercial or personal purposes till further notice.
A statement issued by the state commissioner Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said the ban remains in place.
The initial three-month ban imposed by the state government elapsed in December 2021.
The government took the decision three months ago as part of measures to curb banditry in the state.
Aruwan added that other containment measures remain fully in place.
“Restriction on the movement of tricycles from dusk till dawn (7PM to 6AM) in Birnin Gwari, Giwa, Igabi, Chikun, Kachia, Kagarko and Kajuru LGAs,” he said.
He said the State Government will continue to empathise with citizens over difficulties which these measures may engender and implores all residents to comply fully with these measures in the wider interest of general security.
