Kano State Revenue Board Chairman Sani Abdulkadir Dambo has set N10billion as the monthly revenue target of the state.
Speaking during an interactive session with reporters in his office, he said he would expand the revenue net to include operators in the informal sector.
Dambo said the revenue generation portfolio of between N1billion and N2billion monthly was mainly realised amongst the employed population, which, according to him, did not constitute up to 20 per cent of the total population of the state.
He said: “Most of the tax collection in the state is from Pay As You Earn (PAYE). So we can ask where is the personal income tax? What is the population of workers in the state compared to other business community, artisans, small scale businesses and lots more?”
According to him, tax enlightenment programmes will be encouraged utilised, apart from utilising the informal sector of the economy, with the aim of improving the monthly revenue drive.
