Kano State Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has assured the people of Kano that the inadequate power supply that had crippled the socio economic activities of the state for long would soon be a thing of the past.
Ganduje while on inspection at the project site said that since assumption of office in May 2015 his administration had been trying its best to complete all abandoned projects left by the previous administration including the independent power stations at Tiga.
“The power projects at Tiga and Challawa sub-stations which have reached advanced stage will soon be ready for distribution to boost local consumption target, as well as bounced back the ailing industries.”
“We wish to provide our industries with enough power as well as to our Water Works and also to the Public. We want to make sure that our human development Policy programmes come into practical reality,”Ganduje assured.
While the power generation project is expected to be completed starting from the end of October to November this year. The Governor called on the contractors handling the projects to expedite action and work day in day out to meet the target.
At the distribution site in Challawa, the Consultant of the projects, Engineer Mustapha Bello, assured that, the civil engineering aspect of the project was completed, adding that high tension poles were brought to the distribution centre. And about 2 megawatts and 5.8 megàwatts will soon be ready for consumption.
“Distribution transformers are already in stock for the street lights which is part of the whole work. We are assuring His Excellency and the people of the state that, after the completion of this gigantic project Kano will take the lead again in the area of industrialization,” stated Bello.
He called on the people of the state to exercise little patient in order to reap from the maximum benefits that awaits the state as far as the independent power ownership is concerned.
