The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee has shortlisted a Lagos lawyer, Mr. Festus Keyamo, and 22 others for an interview preparatory to the conferment of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on them.
The names of the shortlisted candidates was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Registrar of the Supreme Court and Secretary to the LPPC, Mr. Sunday Olorundahunsi.
It added that the interview would take place on July 8 and 9, 2014.
Apart from Keyamo, others shortlisted candidates are Gerald-Godwin Ezeuko (Jnr), Samuel Zibiri, Dr. Joshua Olukayode Olatoke, Dr. Adewale Adedamola Olawoyin, Olusola Olaseni Idowu, Chukwudi Obieze, Kevin Chukwudi Nwufo and Chief Wale Taiwo.
They also include Dr. Theophilus Akinpelu Onigbinde, Teslim Busari, Olatunde Oluranti Adejuyigbe, Richard Ayodele Akintunde, and Sylvanus Ogwemoh.
Others are Adewale Adesokan, Tawo Tawo, Andrew Igboekwe, Chike Onyemenam, Fredson Chijioke Okoli, Dr. Amuda-Kannike Abiodun, Oluwakemi Balogun, Ahamefula Ikechukwu Ejelam, and Hakeem Afolabi Olatunde.
The LPPC urged members of the public to comment on the integrity, reputation and competence of the applicants on or before July 7, 2014.
The statement read, “This serves to notify the general public that the under listed applicants have been found worthy to attend the interview preparatory to the award of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, 2014.
“The interview dates shall be on July 8 and 9, 2014. The general public is at liberty to comment on the integrity, reputation and competence of any of the applicants. Such comments if any shall reach the undersigned on or before July 7, 2014.”
The LPPC also in the statement, threatened to withdraw the SAN rank of a lawyer, Mr. J. Adegoke Badejo, if he did not desist from engaging in “professional misconduct.”
The committee, said upon investigating a petition against Badejo, it decided to warn him against unprofessional practices.
The statement said Badejo was accused of deliberately and unprofessionally instructing or sanctioning the filing of series of applications and withdrawing same to deprive beneficiaries of the fruit of the judgment they obtained eight years ago.
