The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) on Sunday offered appreciation to Nigerian workers for their hard work and contributions to the growth and development of the nation.
The party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Falalu Bello, in a media release said that “as we celebrate this year’s International Workers’ Day, we must acknowledge the challenges facing our workforce and renew our calls for promoting their welfare and rights.
“The current government has failed to prioritize the safety and well-being of our workers. Many workers have lost their jobs, while others have had to work under difficult conditions, due to the government’s poor handling of the economy and bad governance in general.
“As a party, we understand the struggles of workers in Nigeria, who are often not paid fair wages or have no job security. We believe that Nigerian workers deserve better, and we will work towards creating policies that protect their rights and promote their welfare when given the opportunity.
“We also recognize the importance of education and skills training in equipping our workers with the knowledge and skills needed to compete in the global economy. We believe that workers deserve a living wage that reflects the value of their contributions to our economy. We have indicated in our manifesto our willingness to work towards ensuring that workers receive fair wages that allow them to provide for themselves and their families.
“As we celebrate May Day, we renew our calls for promoting the welfare and rights of our workers. We believe that every worker deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
“While congratulating the working masses of Nigeria on this year’s International Workers Day, the PRP wishes to remind them that economic struggles can only achieve limited objectives, even if successfully prosecuted.
Bello added that “for more sustainable progress, such struggles must combine with political struggles aimed at changing the political economic foundations on which the society is built. This is a clarion call to the leadership, the rank and file of Nigeria’s labour movement to wisen up to this fundamental fact and join the historic struggle ahead.
