More troubles for Marlian Records as radio stations ban Naira Marley songs

Embattled owner of Marlian Records, Azeez Fashola, also called Naira Marley has more troubles coming his way as some radio stations have started placing a ban on all songs from the label on their frequencies.

The Oyo State capital’s Splash 105.5 FM radio station and privately owned radio stations are among those who have made their opposition to music from Marlian Records known to the public.

According to a Twitter post by Aderonke Adesola, a presenter at the station, the management places an indefinite ban on the songs of the CEO of Marlian Records.

She said Marley’s songs have been placed on “Not to Be Broadcast” (NTTB) on the radio frequencies by the station’s management.

The post read: “Good evening team. In view of the sensitive nature around the death of Mohbad and the criminal procedure, the police have commenced, I will urge us all to exercise discretion.”

“To this effect, Naira Marley’s songs have become NTBB ( not to be broadcast) on our station till further notice. This is with immediate effect. Thank you.”

Naira Marley, who parted ways with MohBad in 2022, has been accused of having a hand in the death of his former signee, an allegation which he denied.

In a statement he issued last week, Marley described MohBad’s death as painful.

Same in Ekiti…

Similarly, some private Radio Stations in Ekiti State, on Tuesday blacklisted all songs under the banner of the Marlian Records label.

The managements of the radio stations appeared unanimous in their decisions which was a fall out of the death of the popular Nigerian singer and former signee of Marlian Records, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji, also known as MohBad, under controversy circumstances.

The radio stations forbid the playing of Marlian records on their airwaves.

A statement on the instagram page of fresh Fm authored by Oluwasefunmi Williams on Tuesday, the station wrote: “Following the public outcry from the general public trialing the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad), the alleged victimisation from different videos going viral and the involvement of members of his previous record label (Marlian records), fresh 106.9 fm has suspended the airplay of all songs and contents under the banner of Marlian Records.”

The Manager News, Fortune Omosola, who spoke on behalf of the management of Voice Fm said, “ we have decided to suspend further usage of Marlian artists on our airwaves.

Similarly, the Station Manager of Newcruse Fm, Joshua Adegbite also confirmed that “songs from the stable of Marlian records has been banned here till further notice.”
