The Executive Vice Chairman, EVC of the commission, Dr. Eugene Juwah who has consistently reaffirmed this said his administration has deliberately made the distribution of digital dividends a cardinal point in its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to ensure that every Nigerian benefits from the telecom revolution.
One of the strategic approaches the commission adopted was to distribute ICT equipment and books to secondary and tertiary schools across the six geo political zones of the country.
The latest to receive from this NCC largesse is the Bayero University, Kano which recently donated 87 Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Books.
The donation which was received by the Vice Chancellor BUK, Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed was done by NCC Board Commissioner, Alhaji Mohammed Bintube on behalf of the Commission.
The books will adorn the university’s ICT Centre named T.Y Danjuma ICT Centre. The centre consists of a post graduate school, Departments of Information Technology (IT), Software Engineering and Computer Science. The gesture from the NCC is spread across the six geopolitical zones of the country.
According to Bintube, “the Commission is honored and privileged to be present at one of the Citadels of learning in Nigeria. We appreciate the efforts made in ICT within the University”.
He applauded the Vice Chancellor and the university management for keeping up with the trends in ICT with the rest of the world, explaining that “the ICT book donation is part of the project of the Commission to fill the dearth of educational materials within the ICT sector in the country”.
The Vice Chancellor expressed gratitude to the Commission for the donation and encouraged the NCC to further partner with the university in its efforts to expand ICT training programmes within the institution. He stated that the NCC is one of the institutions that show legitimacy and honor in the ICT sector. The book donation by the Commission to the school is worth millions of Naira and is one of the best the University has received so far.
