The people of Nsukka (Enugu North) senatorial zone in Enugu State will on Sunday, June 1, 2014, play host to the newly ordained Catholic Bishop of Nsukka Diocese, Very Rev. Msgr. Prof. Godfrey Igwebuike Onah, on his first “Thank You” visit outside his diocese.
The ceremony which many are looking forward to will start with a Holly Mass at St. Agnes Catholic church, Maryland by 11.30am according to a programme obtained by our correspondent.
In his remarks, Dr. Basil Onugu, President, Nsukka Professionals Group, said the purpose of the visit is to thank the Nsukka Catholic faithfuls and their friends residing in Lagos for their great and remarkable contributions and participation towards his very successful Ordination and Installation on Thursday, July 4, 2013 as the second Catholic Bishop of Nsukka Diocese.
“The epoch making visit, the first of in the series of the Bishop’s proposed thank you visits is expected to draw massive crowd as many are already mobilising towards taking the advantage of this August visit to interact face to face with His Lordship.
“It presents a unique life time opportunity for many who may not ordinarily be privileged to see him at will and also those who were not able to attend his ordination to have meet with him. There is the dire need to show case the teeming number of Nsukka Catholic faithfuls, as well as, non-Catholic faithfuls in Lagos that identify wholesomely with the Catholics”, he said.
According to Onugu, the visit will also offer opportunities for people to discuss issues of mutual interest and concerns to tap from the Bishops wisdom and counsel towards solving such issues.
“It thus expected that the turn out at the Mass the Bishop will celebrate by 11.30 am on Sunday, June 01, 2014 at St Agnes Catholic Church, Mary Land will be massive. A reception will follow after the Mass at the Church’s Hall to herald the visit,” he said.
