The governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun state, has formally presented Hon. Adekunle Akinlade, as its consensus governorship candidate and the state commissioner for Agriculture, Mrs Peju Adebajo, as his running mate.
The decision was previously arrived at, by party executives led by the state chairman, Derin Adebiyi at the government house in Abeokuta, the state capital, shortly after a meeting with the leaders of the party from Ogun East district.
Governor Ibikunle Amosun had earlier told the party members to accept the decision in good faith, noting that if the consensus arrangement failed to work, all the aspirants would go to the direct mode of primaries.
He said efforts were still in progress to ensure that all aggrieved party members were convinced on the need for the zoning arrangement, which he said, was allowed by the party constitution.
The governor expressed satisfaction with the party’s consensus arrangement, which he said would make APC achieve a landslide victory.
Governor Amosun, who himself is vying for the state’s Central Senatorial seat, also promised to be part of the campaign that would ensure victory for the party at the 2019 polls
