President General of the Igbo apex socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, has reiterated that restructuring is the only solution to Nigeria’s problems.
Nwodo, Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe and former military administrator of Lagos State, Rear Admiral Ndubisi Kanu, among others, also urged Ndigbo to come together and maintain peaceful co-existence and unity among themselves and their host communities.
Nwodo made the call at the weekend, in Lagos, at the inauguration of the executive of the Lagos chapter of the association.
During the exercise, which was chaired by Ukiwe and attended by dignitaries including Kanu, former governors of Ondo and Anambra states, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, respectivley, former minister of Information, Dr. Walter Ofonagoro, Eze Ndigbo Lagos, 5 Ohazulike, Prince Adedeji Dosunmu and Chief Guy Ikoku, Chief Solomon Ogbonna, was sworn in as president, while he also inaugurated his deputy, Chief Vitson Uzor and other state local governments and local council development area’s executives.
Nwodo expressed displeasure over the ill treatment meted to a section of the country as a result of the kind of constitution being operated in the country. “The solution to Nigeria’s problem is restructuring and Ndigbo stands by it,” he said.
He pledged his support to the newly-inaugurated Lagos Ohanaeze and charged them to be good ambassadors of Ndigbo, in all their activities. “You should pilot the affairs of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the state very well and try to represent Ndigbo well.”
He also called on Ohanaeze members in Lagos state to support to the newly-inaugurated president for him to serve them better.
Earlier, Ukiwe commended Ndigbo for the maturity with which they handled misunderstandings which arose from the earlier annulled elections.
On his part, Ogbonna thanked members of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the state for the mandate given to him to serve.
He pledged to work hard towards uniting Ndigbo in the state.
