The National Chair man of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mallam Adamu Mu’azu during President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign in Umua hia yesterday, told Abians that the former governor of the state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, is a full and strong member of the party.
The PDP boss informed his audience that the former governor had been working with the president in Abuja to ensure the overall success of the party, urging members in the state to work with Dr. Kalu so as to get the much expected success for the party.
In his speech, President Godluck Jonathan prom ised to make the youths and women the focus of his ad ministration if elected in the February presidential elec tion.
He said the youths would receive greater encouragement even as 35 per cent affirmation for women would be sustained.
According to him, his gov ernment recognises the vital role women play in the de velopment of the nation and has appreciated that by giv ing reasonable and responsi ble appointments to women.
“The PDP government and the government of Jona than and Namadi Sambo is a government of action, a gov ernment that keeps to prom ises no matter how little; we don’t belong to the class of politicians that say one thing and mean another.”
The President who arrived Umuahia at 4:13pm from Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital, noted that Nigerian youths are creative as dem onstrated in Nollywood and music industry saying that they needed more encour agement which his adminis tration would provide.
He added that his govern ment has set up a fund in the ministry of Finance for youth entrepreneurship, saying that the federal government was committed to creating 2mil lion jobs every year.
He said his administration has made significant impact in the state through the revi talization of the rail transport, the Ohafia military barracks, and rehabilitation of the Aba Port Harcourt expressway, among others.
