Former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter on Thursday officially declared his intention to contest for the Presidency of Nigeria under the platform of the PDP come 2023.

This is as Same as traditional rulers drawn from the 177 autonomous communities in Anambra state-endorsed Obi as their candidate.

Peter Obi who made his declaration before the monarchs in Awka the Anambra state capital said that he is not seeking a political appointment but contesting for the number one seat at Aso Rock with the passion to fix Nigeria and to keep the various sections and people of the nation as one indivisible entity.

He told the traditional rulers, “You all know me very well and I do not need any more introduction and you all know what I did as governor of Anambra state and Anambra is like Nigeria and anybody who can manage Anambra state can manage Nigeria and I am calling for your support and I have confidence in you all that you will support me”

He said, “I am not contesting because I want political appointment but to serve this country and unite Nigeria and I am the only person that can unite Nigeria.

He noted that “The state of our country is deplorable and the level of insecurity is indeed unfortunate and Nigeria has fallen to the lowest ebb in the comity of nations in the world and I am the only one that can restore security in Nigeria.”

According to him, “As President, I want the security of lives and property in Borno state, in Ibadan, Minner Niger state, as I want it to be in Onitsha and Kano or Ekiti state.”

“My interest in the presidency of Nigeria is to restore security and revamp our educational sector and also revive the health sector I have seriously studied our country and I have come to discover that all that we need is to ensure security so that foreign aids and local investments will thrive in all parts of the country”

“I have come to serve Nigeria and I am sure of restoring our country and uniting the country because if there is no unity in Nigeria we cannot move ahead.

In her presentation earlier, Senator Uche Ekwunife representing Anambra Central District at the National Assembly declared that those with questions about which section of Igbo is eligible to go for president has shown ignorance of the personality of Mr. Peter Obi.

She stated that “When you go to the North they say that they are waiting for Igbos and the person is Peter Obi, you go to the West they say that they are waiting for Ndigbo and they are waiting for Peter Obi and you go to South-South and they say they are waiting for Peter Obi.”

Senator Ekwunife pointed out that “This is a good product and a good product needs no introduction to sail through and that is Peter Obi. And we in Igbo land have no choice but to support our brother because he is the next president of Nigeria.”

Chairman of Anambra Traditional Rulers Council and the Obi of Onitsha who was represented by Igwe Emma Nnabuife of Okija community said that the entire monarchs drawn dr across the three Senatorial zones of the state have spoken with one voice that Peter Obi is our man for the presidency.”

He said, “We need no other person but he and the Igbos have endorsed Mr. Peter Obi as our candidate and this is the turn of Ndigbo.”

The event witnessed a special traditional prayer session for Peter Obi and his endorsement.
They emphasized the need to reach out to Southeast traditional rulers to be aware of Obi’s emergence and the need for other aspirants not to scuttle the laudable project.
