The management of Promasidor Nigeria Limited will host a cooking competition for students across the country to harness their cooking skills.
The company said the objective of the forthcoming 2014 ‘Onga National Campus Cooking Competition’ is to create a platform which will engage individuals in the art of cooking.
According to the company, the competition which began in 2012, will begin in August and run for a duration of three to four months, to end in November.
The Category Manager, Food Enhancement and Beverage, Promasidor, Mr. Abiodun Ayodeji, said the competition which would be in two phases including campus contest and grand finale, would give students across selected campuses, the opportunity to sharpen their culinary skills, enlightened the public on the wide variety of Nigerian dishes and create and emotional bond between the company’s target audience and the Onga brand.
He said, “The campus contest will be held in 14 campuses across the country with activation in each of the campuses in three phases. Phase one is call for entry where interested students will submit entries in dedicated drop boxes within their faculties.
“It will be followed by the event hype with selection of contestants and wet sampling and cooking demonstration by a chef, and phase three will be the cooking competition where the first place contestant will represent their school at the grand finale in Lagos with a grand price of a Kia Rio car.”
He added that the campuses would include University of Agriculture Abeokuta; University of Ibadan; University of Lagos; Ladoke Akintola University of Technology; University of Benin; University of Nigeria, Nsukka; Imo State University and Abia State University
Others, he said, would include University of Port Harcourt; Federal University of Technology, Minna; University of Calabar; Benue State University and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
