Commercial activities at the Mile 4 axis of Ikwerre Road in Port Harcourt metropolis were shut down Saturday as thousands of residents took to the streets for the second day to protest against the killing of a bus driver, David Legbaraa, by a policeman, Sergeant James Imhalu.
Shops were closed while most people stayed in-doors as suspected hoodlums took advantage of the protest to harass passers-by and vandalise property.
THISDAY gathered that Legbaraa was shot and killed on Friday afternoon at Whimpy Junction, Ikwerre Road, Port Harcourt by Sergeant Imhalu. who was on a stop and search duty.
This action sparked off spontaneous protest from drivers, sympathisers and indeed members of the public who saw the action of the policeman as unjustifiable. The protest spilled to major highways and streets and caused serious traffic gridlock in the city. Thisday
