Soludo appoints 39-year-old as Anambra’s first female SSG

Anambra State Governor, Charles Chukwuma Soludo

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has approved the appointment of Mrs Chiamaka Nnake as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

Nnake becomes the first woman to occupy that position in the state.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime.

According to the statement, Nnake, 39, hails from Nawfia in Njikoka Local Government Area of the state and is a finance and public sector professional with more than 13 years of experience in finance, strategy development and economic planning.

Before the appointment, she served as the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning and also chaired Solution Fun City Limited.

During her tenure as commissioner, she oversaw the mobilisation, planning and allocation of state resources to support socio-economic development.

The statement added that Nnake also held leadership positions across several state boards and initiatives, including the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, the Internal Revenue Service Board and the Small Business Agency.

He further stated that she currently serves as the state’s Reform Champion for Ease of Doing Business and focal point for Social Investment Programmes, where she has continued to promote reforms aimed at inclusive growth.

Before joining the state government, Nnake worked as a Senior Strategy Consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Nigeria, where she handled more than 30 client engagements across different sectors and markets.

During her time at PwC, she contributed to the development of the Anambra Vision 2070 plan, a long-term development blueprint designed to guide the state’s transformation over the next five decades.

Earlier in her career, she worked as a Business Analyst at IHS Towers and later as an Equity Research Analyst at Meristem Securities Limited.

Nnake holds a Master of Business Administration from Lagos Business School and graduated with First-Class Honours in Accounting from Benson Idahosa University.

She is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of the ACCA National Advisory Committee.

The governor also approved a fresh appointment of key officials to serve in various capacities within the state government.

These appointments, including principal secretaries and special advisers, among others, were announced in a press statement released by Aburime on Monday.

The appointees include the Head of Service, Mrs Ngozi Iwouno; Principal Secretary to the Governor, Joachim Anetoh; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr Ben Nwankwo; and State Chief of Protocol, Prof Frank-Collins Okafor.

Others are Attorney-General of the state, Tobechukwu Nweke (SAN); Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime; Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr Vincent Okechi; and Deputy State Chief of Protocol, Ms Ngozi Okoye.

Also appointed are Special Adviser, Medicals and Pharmaceuticals, Dr Godwin Nnadozie; Special Adviser, Innovation and Business Incubation & CEO, Solution Innovation District, Ms Chinwe Okoli; Special Adviser, Special Projects and Director, Project Evaluation and Monitoring, Prof Ebuka Nwankwo; and Special Adviser, Community Security, Ken Emeakayi.

Soludo, a former Central Bank of Nigeria governor, was sworn in for a second term in office on March 17, 2026.
