The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, has condemned the recent bomb blast in Medina, the second holiest city in Saudi Arabia, and advised Islamic countries to unite against terrorism as Islam is a religion of peace.
“This obnoxious is as dastardly, as it is condemnable,” he said, adding that Islam abhors all forms of violence.
In his Sallah message yesterday, the monarch advised Nigerians to go back to the farms as a panacea to the current economic hardship in the country.
“God, in His Infinite mercy, has endowed Nigeria with vast arable lands, with each region having its own peculiar comparative advantage. We should therefore go back to the farms and engage in both rain and dry season farming to be able to feed ourselves,” he advised.
He commended the current efforts by the federal and Sokoto State governments to revamp the sector which he said would reduce poverty and unemployment.
He further advised that more priority should be given to the welfare of Nigerians and security and called on parents to enrol their children in school to acquire both western and religious education.
‘‘Education is the only key to success, and no nation can fully develop without according it priority attention,’’ the monarch said.
He admonished Nigerians to be patient and sustain fervent prayers for peace, unity and the development of the nation.
