The Federal Government has appointed the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Mohammed Sa’ad Abubakar III, as the National Amirul Hajj/leader of this year’s delegation to the holy land of Mecca.
Announcing the 23-man list yesterday in Abuja, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Anyim Pius Anyim, said the composition as approved by President Goodluck Jonathan also had the Minister of State Foreign Affairs Nurudeen Mohammed as a member.
A statement by the Special Assistant Media to the SGF ,Sam Nwaobasi , indicates that the secretary of the delegation, Amb. A. U. Baraya would communicate to the members the date for the first meeing of the commiteee.
Other members of the committee include Nuumanu Hannafi Bamalli, Tahir U. Tahir , Alhaji Sani Dauda, Prof. Aminu Al-Amin, HRH Alhaji Sale Idris Usman, Emir of Fune, HRH Alhaji Abbas Njidda Tafida, Emir of Muri, Adamu Bulkachuwa, Alhaji Mukhtar Alkali Mahmud, Dr. Isa Modibbo, Umma Salihijo Ahmad and Yahaya Ibrahim.
Others are Senator Bello Mohammed Tukur, Ismaila A. Gadaka, Justice Tajudeen Olukayode Ariwoola, HRH Mallam Muhammed Auwal Ibrahim Emir of Suleja, HRH Oba Aderemi Adedapo, Alayemore of Ido Osu, Alh. Adbullahi Gbade Akinbode, Grand Kadi Alkali Abubakar Shettima (Rtd.), Dr. Khadija Tukur and Hajia Aisha Kaita.
