The Enugu State Government says it has concluded arrangement for the
construction of three new specialist hospitals in each of her three senatorial zones towards rendering vital specialist services and bringing much succour and relief to the people of the state.
Governor Ugwuanyi represented by the deputy governor, Hon. Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, made the assertion when he received in audience the management of National Orthopaedic Hospital Enugu led by its Medical Directors, Dr. C.U. Nwadinigwe during their courtesy visit to him at
Government House, Enugu.
He recalled that the hospital which was established in 1976 has grown to become one of the most important health institutions in this part of the country, adding that it is obvious benefits and successes had served as massive complement to the current vision and efforts of his administration to make Enugu State the choice destination for medical
treatment in the country and beyond.
The governor noted that his administration had in addition intensified efforts towards the completion and commissioning of ultra-modern diagnostic centres and upgrading and strengthening the existing health
facilities and institutions in the state.
Governor Ugwuanyi told them to be assured that as a government; we
will always be ready to partner with you and also offer you necessary cooperation and assistance towards the achievement of our common goals in health care delivery in the state and beyond.
He commended the hospital for its achievements so far and urged it to
continue to render available and affordable services to the people in line with its social responsibility and obligations.
Earlier the Medial Director, Orthopaedic Hospital Enugu and the leader of the team, Dr. C.U. Nwadinigwe, said that they were in Government House to intimate His Excellency about their desire to partner with the state government on their intended grass-root outreach medical treatment programme in the state.
Dr. Nwadinigwe told his Excellency that the hospital which was established in 1976 to take care of the Nigeria/Biafra war victims
had about 14 states in the country as its catchment areas as well as partner and collaborate with foreign countries to solve some of its endemic challenges.
He commended Gov. Ugwuanyi for the laudable programmes put in place to better the living standard of the people, especially in the area of security and crime prevention and appealed to him to provide the
hospital with structure and sanitize and remove the welders and commercial bus drivers who have turned the hospital frontage to a mini-market and motor-parks.
