Two men suspected to be fake soldiers adorned in army uniforms have been arrested in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.
Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, disclosed this on Thursday while addressing newsmen on the state government’s message to the people of the state on the need for orderly conduct of citizens during the governorship and house of assembly on Saturday.
Uduaghan assured of the preparedness of the state government to collaborate with INEC and the security agencies towards a peaceful and successful election on April 11, 2015.
He however warned troublemakers to steer clear of polling centres and all activities and places related to the election on Saturday.
The governor, who stressed that “trouble makers will not be give a breathing space” during the electoral exercise, said he was personally concerned that all Delta citizens are safe during and after the election.
He said that INEC “We have no wish that anyone should come to harm in any way during election” Uduaghan said, adding, ”It’s all about democracy, the people’s choice.
”INEC has assured that all observed loopholes and discrepancies in the March 28, 2015 elections have been corrected and that personnel and materials will be adequately and delivered or distributed in time for the election on Saturday.”
He said that INEC had also assured that the card reader would function without hitches this time around will also be used for accreditation of voters at the polling centres throughout the state.
“This election will mark a watershed in the annals of our beloved Delta State. As we go out to vote on Saturday, we should please remember that it is not a do-or-die affair. I have no wish that anyone should come to harm It is peaceful election where the leaders are freely chosen by the people is the hallmark of democracy.” – Thisday.
