Chief Dave Umahi, governor of Ebonyi state yesterday, assured the public that his administration was committed towards the protection of investors doing businesses across the state.
Umahi gave the assurance when he received in audience, Management of Crush Rock Company and its host community of Ishiagu in Ivo local government area of the state at government House, Abakaliki.
The Governor who directed Crush Rock company operating in Ishiagu to pay all outstanding royalties owed the host community for over two years, condemned the attitude of some investors who are only interested in what they would gain at the expense of the welfare of their host community.
He further charged Ishiagu community to be law abiding and eschew bitterness, acrimony, youth restiveness and all forms of criminality that are capable of scaring investors away from the state.
“We are ready to protect investors in the state. They should be able to keep to any MOU they sign with communities in the state so that there will be peace throughout the state”.
Responding, the President General, Ishiagu Community Development Union, ICDU, Mr. Stanley Ayim who thanked the Governor for his timely intervention in the impasse between Crush Rock and Ishiagu community, stated that the royalties from the company would be used for road maintenance and payment of tuition for students among others.
