It is not a lie that the once-happening group, Plantashun Boiz made up of Face, Blackface and Tuface, revolutionised the face of pop music in Nigeria. But when the ovation was loudest, the group broke up to the disappointment of their teeming fans.
As much as the trio tried to make a name as solo artistes, most people have looked forward to a reunion and the artistes even made an attempt to make such possible.
However, it hasn’t become a reality and in an interview with Saturday Beats recently, one of the group members, Faze, gave reasons for it.
He said, “There was a lot that happened with previous reunion and Plan B album. We had issues with the marketers and it was only normal for us to let it go. There was no point in making trouble with the marketer. We had an agreement with the marketer and he did not fulfil his end of the deal. We didn’t end the project. We had a contract with the marketer and instead of him doing ten items for us, he only did one so we pulled out of the project. It had nothing to do with the Plantashun Boiz. Apparently, Plantashun Boiz was too big for him.
“To me, I don’t think that was our best, we were just playing around. If we sit down to write a song, people would be surprised because I know what Blackface can write. He has the knowledge and he is very good at writing. Tuface has the rhythm and melody; I also know how to write and I have my melody. It is just for us to put our minds to it and we would have one of the best albums of all times. Everybody has their plate full at the moment and that is what is slowing down our plans.”
He told Saturday Beats that if his other group members are ready to give the Planashun Boiz another try, he would be ready to oblige them.
“If others are ready, I am also willing to stage a reunion but it depends on the feelings we all have. I would not want us to come back to fulfil all righteousness; I would want us to come back willingly and with uniformity. Everybody is busy now but I am sure we could always find time to unite. My album, 2000nFaze, would be out in November but if I am called upon to re-unite with the Plantashun Boiz, I will answer and fix it in my schedule. I don’t have an issue with re-uniting with Tuface and Blackface,” Faze said. -Punch.
