The Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Opunabo Inko-Tariah, has resigned from his position.
Inko-Tariah, who announced his resignation on Friday, alleged that his office had been starved of funds.
In a copy of his resignation letter issued in Port Harcourt, Inko-Tariah expressed gratitude to Governor Nyesom Wike for giving him the opportunity to serve in his government.
The former aide to the governor explained that his office was starved of funds throughout the five months he operated as his media aide.
Inko-Tariah also said that professional advice given to the governor were not acted upon.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress in the state has hailed Inko-Tariah’s decision to leave the current administration in the state.
The Rivers State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Chris Finebone, said the party was not surprised that the former aide to the governor was telling “sordid stories of neglect and disrespect” for his views and advice by Governor Wike.
The APC further said that it was in no doubt that more Rivers people would soon see the light and take the part of honour just like Inko-Tariah had done.
Finebone said, “The APC knew that it was only a matter of time before all well-meaning and proud sons and daughters of Rivers State, who found themselves in Wike’s sinking ship, jumped to safety.
“This is not only because his governorship will soon become history, but because the malevolently unique style of Wike, whose hallmark behaviour hinges on divide-and-rule exasperates decent minds.”
However, the state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Felix Obuah, who spoke through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Jerry Needam, declined to comment on Inko-Tariah’s resignation.
