The Zamfara State House of Assembly has lifted the suspension of Hon. Amiru Ahmad Keta, member representing Tsafe West Constituency, with immediate effect.
Bello Madaro Kurya, the Chief Press Secretary to the Zamfara State House of Assembly, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
Keta was among eight lawmakers earlier suspended by the House.
The decision to reinstate him followed the consideration of an apology letter he submitted to the House, according to a report presented Monday by the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges.
Presenting the report, the committee chairman, Hon. Nura Dahiru Sabon Birnin Dan Ali, representing Birnin Magaji Constituency, recommended the immediate lifting of Keta’s suspension.
The committee also urged the lawmaker to withdraw all pending court cases instituted against the House and the Zamfara State Government.
Following deliberations and contributions by members, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, announced that the House had unanimously resolved to lift Keta’s suspension.
The Speaker said the decision took immediate effect.
Moriki further said the House remained open to other suspended lawmakers who were willing to tender unconditional apologies.
He commended the Committee on Ethics and Privileges for what he described as its diligent handling of the matter.
