Forty Boko Haram members were killed in Konduga, Beneshek and Damboa in the North-east when units of the Nigerian Armed Forces launched major offensives against the insurgents last Thursday and Friday.
The gallant troops also captured a multi-barrel T55 tank, nine rifles, two machine guns, two rocket propelled grenade tubes, five boxes of ammunition and other weapons from the insurgents.
PRNigeria in a report quoting reliable high-ranking military sources said 11 soldiers lost their lives in the encounter, even as 15 others who sustained injuries were being treated. As at the time of filing the report, three soldiers were still missing.
It was gathered that troops also conducted a raid on terrorists’ enclave at Shindig in a spirited effort to flush out the insurgents that had continued to push against the military despite receiving heavy bashing in the last two weeks in North-Eastern Nigeria.
In the course of the preceding days, many top commanders of the Boko Haram group had been killed, but this negative outcome tended not to have discouraged the insurgents, as splinter cells of the terrorist group continued to confront the military in fierce battles.
Air and land operations are ongoing to clear the terrorists from other communities where their activities have become prevalent recently in the states under the state of emergency
