Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has said that ninety percent of monthly allocation is expended on payment of workers’ salaries in the state.
He said this at an annual interfaith thanksgiving service held at the governor’s office, Secretariat, Ibadan.
The governor said instead of negative comments from some quarters, his administration deserved to be commended adding that despite the fact that the Federal Government is owing the state three months allocation, he went extra mile by paying his workers .
Ajimobi said, “Though, the Federal government is owing us three months allocation, we are owing the workers two months. We deserved to be commended. You are less than 100,000 and we are spending 90 pee cent of the allocation to pay your salaries. You should be appreciative. Only a crazy governor will not wish his civil servants well and only crazy civil servants will want to earn money without working”.
While underscoring the sacrifice his administration has been making since the advent of financial crisis, he hinted that for the past five months, his aides have not received salaries and they work conscientiously.
Governor Ajimobi also allayed fears of the workers over rumoured retrenchment assuring them that none of them would be sacked except those found culpable in fraudulent activities.
