The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Ahmed Galadima, has welcomed the defection of the state’s 21 local government chairmen and 226 councillors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
Galadima described the development as a significant boost to the party’s grassroots presence ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his media aide, Adamu Sambo, the APC candidate said the decision reflected the defectors’ understanding of the evolving political situation in the state.
He congratulated the council chairmen, saying their decision demonstrated political foresight and a commitment to the state’s development.
“Their choice reflects political foresight and an understanding that the future of our state is best served by unity, purposeful leadership and a shared commitment to development,” Galadima said.
He also commended Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, for what he described as his inclusive leadership and ability to build bridges across political divides.
Galadima said the governor’s political engagements had contributed to the APC’s growing appeal in the state.
He linked the defections to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the movement of political leaders and grassroots structures to the APC could strengthen the party’s position ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to him, the development presents an opportunity to deepen cooperation, improve governance and address the aspirations of the people.
