The AIG in charge of Zone 12 command of the Nigeria Police, Tunde Ogunsakin, who recently resumed at the Zone 12 headquarters, Bauchi has given added assurance to the people of the North-East that insurgency in the region will soon be a thing of the past.
The AIG made this call during his familiarization tour of the zone which comprises Bauchi, Yobe and Borno.
He further stressed that there is a healthy synergy between security agencies within the state striving to build a familiar terrain of peace which the North East has enjoyed in the past and to end insurgency in a short while.
The AIG was accompanied by CP Zana Ibrahim (Yobe), CP Aderemi Opadokun (Borno) and CP K. Ahmadu (CP Medical, Zone 12).
During his tour, he visited the various state commands and made a courtesy call on Governors Kashim Shettima and Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam of Borno and Yobe states respectively.
The AIG also showed a willingness to seek cooperation form the traditional institutions by visiting the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Shehu Garba.
The Zone 12 Police Chief was received by the Shehu of Borno who hailed the Nigeria Police for doing a progressive job in restoring peace to the State.
The Shehu informed that Borno residents are deeply concerned about the insurgency and he further gave a vivid account to the AIG that over 2 million indigenes of Borno have been displaced during the cause of this insurgency
The Shehu of Borno further commended AIG Ogunsakin for the show of commitment to duty and highlighted the plight of Borno state for Nigeria Police not to rest on their oars until the affected people who have been forced to flee as a result of the insurgency are brought back to their homes.
He prayed for continued zeal from security agencies in the quest to crush insurgency.
AIG Ogunsakin assured the Shehu that the present leadership of the Nigeria Police headed by Solomon Arase IGP is ready to work with every well-meaning stakeholder and all security agencies to restore order, peace and security.
He further pledged his unflinching resolve to give his best in the fight to dislodge insurgents in the state.
