A blast has killed 32 people including women and children at a lorry park known as Kasuwan Tipa in Yola, Adamawa state.
The NEMA Coordinator, Saadu Bello put the death toll at 32 while 80 got injured.
The blast rocked the park at about 8 pm on Tuesday when the place was crowded with food sellers, petty traders as well as other low income earners who patronise the spot.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa State Police Command Othman Abubakar said 31 persons lost their lives in the incident while many sustained injuries.
Our correspondent who visited the scene reports that security personnel cordoned the area while humanitarian workers were seen evacuating dead bodies and the wounded to the hospital.
Family members who rushed to look for their missing relatives were seen crying as they await information about the fate of their loved ones.
Witnesses said dozens of people were feared dead in the blast. It was not clear whether the bomb was planted or it was a suicide attack.
A Red Cross official, Aliyu Maikano said dozens were evacuated to the Specialists Hospital as well as the Federal Medical Centre in Yola.
