The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has described as untrue a media report that a runaway Chibok girl recently handed over to the military revealed that other Chibok girls were alive and many impregnated by Boko Haram terrorists.
A statement on Sunday by Defence spokesman Colonel Rabe Abubakar said the report which claimed one of the Chibok girls who escaped from terrorist captivity was handed to the military post in Baga is misleading.
He said the military is working to rescue not only the Chibok girls but others held captive by the terrorist but “will not give in to misleading reports which has no true source.”
Abubakar added that: “the search for abducted Chibok school girls and the rescue of other Nigerians in hostage has never relapsed as could be attested to in recent times where hundreds of women and children were rescued by the military through its coordinated operations.”
He further said the military will continue to sustain the operation until the entire North East is cleared of all terrorists and miscreants.
“We wish to once again remind journalists to seek clarifications on any issue relating to military operations and other national sensitive matters before going to press,” the DHQ stated.
