The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has renamed all competitions involving national teams in the continent as Africa Cup of Nations with the exception of the African Nations Championship.
This was among the numerous decisions reached by CAF Executive Committee after their meeting in Cairo last week, where it was unanimously agreed that all national team tournaments hence forth would be called Africa Cup of Nations and would be distinguished by their gender and age grade.
In view of the harmonization strategy, all CAF organized competitions, hence forth would be named as thus; Africa Cup of Nations, African Nations Championship, Africa Women Cup of Nations, Africa U-23 Cup of Nations and Africa U-20 Cup of Nations. Others are; Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations, Africa Fustal Cup of Nations , while the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup remains.
Also, the Executive Committee fixed November 18, 2015 as the draw date for the final tournament of the Orange African Nations Championship, Rwanda 2016. An inspection team is expected in Rwanda from August 23 to 27 2015, to appraise the state of preparedness of the host Country as well as hold working sessions with the Local Organising Committee (LOC).
