Angel Correa netted a brace and missed a penalty, as Sevilla recorded a 2-1 win over Leicester City in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last 16 tie.
Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy were joined in the attack by Nigerian winger, Ahmed Musa and midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi; while Demarai Gray had to settle for a spot on the bench.
The home side were awarded a penalty after 25 minutes when was Wes Morgan brought down Angel Correa, who stepped up but saw his spot-kick saved by Kasper Schmeichel.
However, Sevilla went ahead after 25 minutes Pablo Sarabia powered home a header from close range, after some good work by Sergio Escudero.
The Premier League champions struggled to mount any serious attempts at the Sevilla goal, as the score remained 1-0 to the Spanish outfit at the break.
Sevilla went agonisingly close to doubling their lead in the 50th minute as Vitolo rattled the upright from a tight angle.
However, the hosts were not to be denied in the 62nd minute as Correa grabbed his second of the game with a powerful finish from close range.
Leicester managed to pull a goal back in the 73rd minute as Vardy turned home Danny Drinkwater’s loq cross for a crucial away goal.
Sevilla were looking to restore their two-goal advantage and they were nearly rewarded in the 87th minute but Adil Rami saw his header crash against the crossbar.
Nonetheless, the score remained 2-1 as the referee brought a close to the second-half proceedings.
