Enugu Guber: PDP Youths wing raise alarm over alleged smear media attack

The Enugu State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth-REAP wishes to bring to the notice of the general public the attempts by some politicians in Enugu State, who are not happy and comfortable with the steady progress made by the PDP-led State Government of Sullivan Chime, to lure them into a coordinated media attack against the PDP and the State Governor over the democratic process that led to the emergence of Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as the Consensus Governorship Candidate of the Party in Enugu State.

This alarm has become necessary in view of the persistent pressure being mounted on our Organization to sign some fictitious documents already prepared by these elements, against our wish, to mislead the public, criticize our State Governor and create a false impression against the ultimate decision of the Party in the adoption of Hon. Ugwuanyi as its Consensus Candidate.

In view of the above, we are also aware that these persons in their desperate nature have put all measure on ground to go ahead with their evil plans to sponsor some false and mischievous publications in this weekend’s national dailies in order to hoodwink the general public and express their unfounded grievances to whip up negative sentiments.

Our Organization therefore wishes to alert the public of this unfortunate desire of those behind these desperate acts of disloyalty and also distance itself from their inordinate actions.

Consequently, let it be on record that the entire membership of Enugu State PDP Youth-REAP, having adjudged the processes that led to the emergence of Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi as democratic, is fully in support of his unanimous endorsements by the State and Senatorial District Caucuses of our Party as the PDP Consensus Candidate for the 2015 Governorship Election in Enugu State.

Enugu PDP Youth-REAP also condemn in its entirety, the unwarranted vituperations in the media by the Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial District, Senator Ayogu Eze against the democratic process that led to the emergence of the Party’s Consensus Candidate, all in a failed attempt to ridicule the office of our State Governor and destabilize the Party in the State.

We make bold to ask and particularly pose this question to Senator Ayogu Eze, if he (Senator Eze) would have resorted to this mischievous venture, had the process that led to the emergence of the Consensus Candidate favoured him?

We fully align ourselves with the position of the Party in the State that anybody who feels interested to participate in the Primary election despite the endorsement of Hon. Ugwuanyi is still at liberty to contest under the umbrella of the PDP.

Therefore, we wish to advise these few individuals in the minority who are still aggrieved to present themselves for the Party Governorship primary election coming up on November 29, 2014, rather than engaging in all sorts of falsehood, mischief and political gimmicks, aimed at undermining the Party and misinforming the undiscerning members of the public for their selfish interests.

In conclusion, we sincerely thank His Excellency, Governor Sullivan Chime for allowing the people to choose the person that will eventually succeed him in office come 2015.
