The umbrella body of Fulani cattle breeders in Nigeria, Miyyeti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has resolved to register all its members across the country, the National President of MACBAN, Alhaji Muhammadu Kirowa has disclosed.
Speaking in Kaduna yesterday, during the maiden national executive council meeting of the association, the national president said this has become necessary as part of efforts to prove the innocence of its members who are always wrongly accused in any attack.
Alhaji Kirowa however, debunked insinuations that they were responsible for attacks in parts of Benue State.
Meanwhile, the National President of Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU), Dr Ephraim Goje urged the Fulani leadership to tell their counterparts in the neighbouring countries that, Nigerian Fulani were peace loving people and that, they should not come to Nigeria if they are not ready to be law abiding.
Miyyeti Allah President said, the identification of the Fulani will help in knowing the real cattle breeders in the country and help in the effort to end killings perpetrated in the name of Fulani herdsmen.
According to him, Fulani are peace loving people, adding that their members were not responsible for the senseless killings perpetrated in Kaduna, Benue, Taraba and other places.
“We decided to hold this meeting in Kaduna to show the world that, we Fulani are peace loving people. We are not just going to stop here, we are going to meet with all tribes of Nigeria to chart ways forward towards ensuring peace in the country. That is why we have invited the National President of Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU), Dr Ephraim Goje to this meeting.
“We know there are bad eggs in every community, but we know that those killing people here and there are not our members. It is against this background that we are going to register all the Fulani in Nigeria to separate the grains from the chaff,” he said.
SOKAPU President stressed that what is important at this point is for Fulani and the troubled host communities in the country to forgive themselves, in order to earn God’s forgiveness. Leadership
