The Non-indigenous Settlers Association of the 11 local government areas of Funtua Senatorial Zone (Katsina South) has resolved the lingering dispute bedevilling the sociocultural organisation for a long time.
The association said, it was determined to forge ahead and confine the things of the past to history.
The association, which also dissolved its interim leadership of eight years, made the disclosure yesterday after a special meeting held at the Victory Hotel in Funtua local government of Katsina State. It was attended by delegates from the various local government areas of the senatorial zone otherwise known as Karaduwa.
The organisation was dogged with mistrust, hijack for selfish political gains, corruption and lack of unity for some time now under the then leadership of the immediate past interim president, Mr Abdul Obaka (Baye).
A statement from the association reads, “The interim leadership of the Non-indigenous Settlers Association of Funtua zone has been dissolved on Saturday, May 3, 2014, and the following have been appointed to man the association as interim management committee until election is conducted.”
“They are: Alh. Abdul Momoh (ASP retired) as chairman, Mr Ajom Agbenyi as secretary and Mr C.Y. Bakori as the PRO”.
The association has scheduled another meeting in two weeks’ time to fine-tune modalities for the forthcoming election of substantive leaders.
The component local government areas of the zone are Funtua, Bakori, Dandume, Sabuwa, Faskari, Danja, Malumfashi, Kafur, Kankara, Musawa and Matazu.
The interim chairman, Momoh, thanked the delegates for coming and the opportunity given his team to serve and promised that the process of the election would not be delayed so that the elected officials will emerge and take charge of the association.
