Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, has approved a supplementary list for Batch 1 of the ongoing 2026 teacher recruitment process.
The announcement, which was made in a press release dated March 22, 2026, and signed by the Ministry of Education’s Permanent Secretary, M. A. K. Jimoh, indicates an extension of the administration’s initial recruitment goals.
The governor’s approval raises the total number of newly hired teaching staff from 1,000 to 1,241, according to the official statement. The ultimate goal of this change, according to officials, is to improve learning outcomes in the state’s primary and secondary schools by accommodating more qualified unemployed youth.
A detailed breakdown of the 1,241 total was given by the Ministry of Education, outlining how it was distributed among the different educational governing bodies.
There are 660 candidates for the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), 526 applicants for TESCOM (Teaching Service Commission) and 55 candidates for education officers.
It is recommended that successful candidates check their names on the supplemental lists right away. All those on the list have been instructed by the state government to go to their respective departments; SUBEB, TESCOM, or the Civil Service Commission to start the required profiling and documentation process.
The administration has stressed that the recruitment is a strategic investment in the future of the state rather than just a plan to create jobs.
“While congratulating all the successful candidates, it is expected that they contribute their quota towards the improvement of the education sector in their new engagement as teachers. For better performance and results, they should also exhibit professionalism in their teaching,” the statement read.
The Adeleke administration’s larger initiative to revitalize Osun State’s educational infrastructure and human resource capacity includes the release of the supplemental list.
