Jonathan is desperate for 2015, says S’East APC

South-East zonal chapter of the All Progressives Congress has described President Goodluck Jonathan as a man desperate to get re-elected in 2015 general election.

The South-East APC said that President Jonathan’s desperation was for the second time unveiled during the Peoples Democratic Party rally held in Enugu, last Friday.

It said that the President’s verbal attack on their party in Enugu gave him out “as a man obsessed with do-or-die politics in his bid for second term.”

Jonathan, while in Enugu, said that the APC was progressing to nowhere in particular but to hell, and that PDP was the only true democratic party in Nigeria.

However, the APC South-East spokesperson, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, said that Jonathan’s speech was uncouth, “unpresidential and showcases a desperate president in his quest for second term.”

Okechukwu spoke in Enugu, on Saturday, shortly after being elected as a national delegate from the APC Udi Local Government congress.

He said, “How can a President throw caution to the winds, mount the rostrum only to cast aspersions on our great party, the APC? It means he has not  found time to read the manifesto of the APC, which has War Against Corruption as the first cardinal programme.”

More so, Okechukwu reminded his party members events that played out   during the North-East zonal rally in Bauchi State recently. “The President, instead of detailing his efforts at combating the Boko Haram insurgents resorted to blame games, insults and invectives, which he said was unbecoming of a president,” he said.

The APC stalwart called on Ndigbo to distance themselves from President Jonathan, insisting that a vote for him in 2015 would be a wasted vote.

“Even the Niger Delta people are disappointed with his poor performance since he failed in four years to complete the East-West Road which cut across the length and breadth of Niger Delta,” he said.

He said, “Will it not be foolhardy to expect anything good from the same President with the same inchoate, nebulous and anti-people economic policy, bedevilled by pervasive and monumental corruption? For you cannot vote the same president with the same inept and clueless leadership qualities and expect a different result’.

“On Enugu International Airport, in spite of the hype, it cannot attract major international airlines like British Airways, Lufthansa unless the coal industry is reactivated and it is only the APC that can do this. For the PDP has successively, from Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration to Jonathan’s promised to revamp the coal industry but failed woefully.”

He dubbed the PDP unity rally a grand deception, recalling that ex-governors Orji Uzor Kalu of Abia state and Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani of Enugu State, the big fishes which PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, boasted would be received by Mr. President at the rally, were chased away because of “serious internal crisis ravaging PDP South East.”

Okechukwu said he was at a loss how a busy president would waste his time to come to a zonal rally to receive only a member of the House of Representatives.
