League Cup: United, Arsenal, Chelsea progress; Spurs, MK Dons crash

Manchester United eased into the League Cup fourth round with a comfortable victory at home to Ipswich Town.
Wayne Rooney got his first domestic goal of the season to put United ahead against their Championship opponents, who made 11 changes for the game.
Antonio Valencia tested Ipswich keeper Bartosz Bialkowski from range before 19-year-old midfielder Andreas Pereira scored a spectacular free-kick.
Substitute Anthony Martial coolly slotted home a third in injury time, reports the BBC.
And Mathieu Flamini scored a superb volley to give Arsenal victory in their League Cup third-round tie at Tottenham.
Flamini slotted the visitors into the lead after Spurs keeper Michel Vorm could only parry an Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain shot back into his area.
Tottenham’s Danny Rose had a penalty appeal rejected but Spurs equalised when Calum Chambers scored an own goal from Nacer Chadli’s cross.
Midfielder Flamini then volleyed in from 20 yards to secure the win.
At Stadium MK, Jay Rodriguez, Sadio Mane and Shane Long each scored twice as Southampton thrashed MK Dons in the League Cup.
Rodriguez curled a shot in off the post to put the visitors in front before Mane slotted in from a tight angle.
Mane then produced a composed finish after a cross from Long, who was fouled as MK Dons conceded a penalty which Rodriguez converted.
A Kyle McFadzean clearance hit Long in the chest and went in before the Saints player slotted in his second.
And Chelsea eased through to the fourth round of the League Cup with a comfortable win over Walsall.
The Premier League side went ahead when summer signing Kenedy crossed for Ramires to nod home.
Remy doubled their lead with a powerful finish, but Walsall responded quickly when James O’Connor tapped in after Milan Lalkovic’s free-kick was parried.
Kenedy’s goal ended the League One side’s hopes of an upset before Pedro added a fourth from distance.
The scoreline was perhaps harsh on the Saddlers, who competed strongly throughout, but Chelsea never looked in danger of a first League Cup defeat to lower-league opposition since 1989.
It was Brazilian Kenedy, a summer signing from Fluminense, who particularly caught the eye on his first start for the Blues.
The 19-year-old reacted quickly when Walsall keeper Neil Etheridge lost possession to set up Ramires, and took his goal superbly with a firm strike through Etheridge’s legs.
Walsall, who are currently second in the third tier, have now failed to reach the fourth round for the last 18 seasons.
