The Police Service Commission has approved the promotion of six Assistant Inspectors General of Police and two Commissioners of Police to the rank of Deputy Inspectors General of Police.
Also promoted are two commissioners of police, who were promoted to the ranks of AIGs.
The AIGs promoted to DIGs are Dan’Azumi Job Doma, former force secretary, Mamman Ibrahim Tsafe, former AIG Zone 2 Lagos, David O. Omojola, former AIG Zone 11 Osogbo, Solomon E. Arase, former AIG Force Intelligence and AIG Christopher K. Katso, former moderator, Nigeria Institute of Police and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Jos.
Others promoted are AIG Zone 5 Benin City, Salihu Argungu Hashidu, while CP Hilary Opara, former CP Bayelsa State and CP Sotonye L. Wakama, former CP Anti-terrorist Squad were also promoted from the ranks of DIGs.
The promotions were with effect from Tuesday while the commission have also reaffirmed its earlier decision that promotions from the ranks of ACPs to AIGs would only be done after its interviews with the affected officers.
Also, the commission at its sixth plenary, held last Tuesday, reviewed the time limit within which aggrieved police officers can lodge complaints against punishment meted to them to 30 days from the receipt of the decisions.
The commission also availed aggrieved officers the opportunity to appeal directly to the commission, where an action on its decision is not implemented by the police authorities as directed by it.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the commission, Mike Mbama Okiro, while congratulating the newly promoted officers, enjoined them to see their elevation as opportunity to serve, imploring them to use their wealth of experience in uplifting the Nigeria Police.
