The South-East governors yesterday in Enugu advised the Federal Government to make public the names and identities of the abducted students of the Government Girls’ Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.
The governors who met at the Enugu Government House said that making public the identities of the missing girls would help in their search. They were kidnapped by Boko Haram on April 14.
However, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) at the weekend released photographs of the female students.
The governors sympathised with their families, the state and the federal governments on the abduction of the students as well as those whose relations died at the second Nyanya Abuja bomb blast on May 1.
They also expressed their condolences to the family of the late President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Amb. Raph Uwechue, who died about two months ago, saying they would visit the bereaved family.
They met specifically to deliberate on Uwechue’s burial which comes up on Friday following the appeal by Ohanaeze Ndigbo to the Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum, Chief Theodore Orji to help in the burial.
The governors in a six-paragraph communique signed by Sullivan Chime (Enugu), Martin Elechi (Ebonyi), and Deputy Governors, Prince Eze Madumere (Imo), and Dr Nkem Okeke (Anambra) also said that they decided to push for review of the sharing formula of Value Added Tax (VAT) among state and local governments following the observed imbalances.
