The Olympic football team, popularly called the Dream Team, on Friday, beat the Japanese U-23 side 5 goals to 4.
The dream team trip to Brazil had not been smooth.
The team finally landed in Manaus, Brazil a few hours ahead of their Group B clash against Japan on Friday.
The team’s Media Officer, Timi Ebikagboro, tweeted on arrival at the Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes-Manaus International Airport, Brazil.
Ebikagboro tweeted: “Touched down Manaus 2.19pm.
“Dream Team going through immigration formalities to God be the glory.”
The Dream Team, lead by Samson Siasia, arrived the Olympics barely three hours from kick off for their opening match against Japan.
It was reliably learnt that the delay in Atlanta, United States of America was due to the inability of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to offset the outstanding hotel bills of the team.
It took the intervention of the Federation Government to bail them out.
