A group, Nsukka Vanguard of Hope, NVH, has appealed to President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, to halt the continued marginalization of Nsukka people by appointing one of their sons or daughters a minister of the Federal Republic.
The group, in a statement by the chairman, Mr. Cyril Chukwuemeka Ugwuoke, and secretary, Chibuzo Ezike, yesterday, lamented the injustices meted out on the people of Nsukka since the return of democracy in 1999, stressing that none of its sons and daughters had been appointed a minister.
While making case for an Nsukka indigene to be appointed to fill Enugu State ministerial slot, the group expressed confidence in the personality of Muhammadu Buhari as one of the most disciplined leaders in the nation. They, however, expressed confidence that the Daura-born general will do the needful.
The group said equity and justice should be considered when appointing a minister from Enugu State and regretted a situation where a certain group of people, though key stakeholders in Nigerian project, were alienated from the scheme of things for no just cause, wondering why Nsukka should be so treated.
