Soludo appoints Ezekwesili as transition committee chair

The Governor-elect of Anambra state Prof. Chukwuma Soludo on Thursday explained why he chose former Minister of Education and Vice President of World Bank (Africa), Dr. Obby Ezekwesili as chairman of the 80 man transition Committee for his inauguration on March 17 this year.

Soludo who spoke through his media convener, and former lawmaker at the Anambra House of Assembly, Hon Pauly Onyeka said Ezekwesili’s bravery was part of the reasons he settled for her as the chairman of the committee.

Onyeka said Ezekwesili’s bravery and ability to call a spade a spade would help her to put on the table any issue that may arise from the outgoing government and the incoming would be brought to the table and ironed out.

Onyeka said: “Oby Ezekwesili is somebody that everybody knows is very hard working, even if she associates with any political party, she still remains nonpartisan in character.”

“I think her appointment or the choice of her is a very wonderful one. She is someone who is knowledgeable about issues of government and governance in Nigeria. She knows how to go about the job, and she is someone that will call a spade a spade. She is brave, so I think her appointment is very good.”

According to him, “Even though we are transiting from one government to the other, and even though it is from a same political party, if there are issues that need to be ironed out, and in ironing out those issues, she and her committee, if they find out what will help Anambra move forward, I believe she has the courage to put it on the table and have it ironed out, without minding if anyone would be offended or not.”
