The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Thursday released the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) figures for the 36 states of the federation for the 2015 fiscal period, with the total IGR dropping by N25.18bn from N707.85bn in 2014 to N682.67bn.
The bureau stated in the report that while some states recorded a decline in revenue, others were able to shore up their revenue base in the 2015 fiscal period.
An analysis of the report showed that 11 states were able to shore up their revenue within the period, while 24 recorded a decline in performance.
Ebonyi State did not provide its IGR figures for 2015, according to the report.
Some of the 11 states that were able to shore up their revenue base, according to the report, are Ogun, from N17.49bn to N34.59bn; Abia, from N12.3bn to N13.4bn; Anambra, from N10.4bn to N14.79bn; Bauchi, from N4.85bn to N5.39bn; and Borno, from N2.76bn to N3.53bn.
The rest are Edo, from N17bn to N19.1bn; Kogi, from N6.5bn to N6.7bn; Nasarawa, from N4.08bn to N4.28bn; Niger, from N5.73bn to N5.97bn; Sokoto, from N5.6bn to N6.2bn; and Taraba, from N3.79bn to N4.15bn.
In terms of performance, the report stated that Lagos State recorded the highest IGR of N262.82bn during the 2015 fiscal period.
However, when compared to the N276.1bn that the state earned in 2014, the N268.2bn represents a decline of N7.94bn.
Rivers State, with N82.1bn, had the second highest IGR, but down from N89.1bn in 2014; while Delta, Ogun and Edo states, with N40.8bn, N34.59bn and N19.11bn followed in that order.
Similarly, Ondo recorded an IGR of N10.09bn; Osun, N8.07bn; Kwara, N7.17bn; Kaduna, N11.53bn; Imo, N5.47bn; and Plateau, N6.9bn.
The report listed states with the least IGR as Yobe, with N2.2bn; Zamfara, N2.7bn; Ekiti, N3.2bn; Borno, N3.5bn; Taraba, N4.1bn; Nasarawa, N4.2bn; and Adamawa, N4.4bn.
