The Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) has tasked the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to provide better technical and logistic support for the teams representing the country on the continent.
This charge was made by the Secretary-General of the NFSC, Barrister Kunle Adeniyi, on Thursday in his office in Lagos.
While commending the management and the technical crew of Enugu Rangers and Rivers United for their heroics in qualifying for the crucial stage of the CAF Champions League, he was quick to admit that the teams could perform better on the continent if they got more support and encouragement from the NFF.
“We saw how Enugu Rangers struggled to overcome their Algerian opponents, just as Rivers United waited till the home game to beat the team from Mali, ” Adeniyi recalled.
“Needless to say, it was painful that our representatives in the Confederation Cup lost out in the first round. I believe with adequate preparations, particularly with superior technical support from the NFF, the story might have been different ” he added.
Speaking further, he disclosed plans by the NFSC to intensify its collaboration with the NFF and clubs representing Nigeria by giving the necessary support whenever and wherever they might be playing.
Meanwhile, both teams representing Nigeria in the CAF Champions League will be in action this weekend, with Enugu Rangers playing away to Zamalek of Egypt; while Rivers United will host El-Merrikh on Sunday.
