City Sightseeing, the worldwide city tour, has announced the commencement of tour operations in Abuja.
The tour, according to the organisers, will operate in over 90 locations across five continents.
A statement from the tour organisers on Tuesday, noted that the tour is the first of its kind in West Africa.
It quoted the Director-General, Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation, Mrs. Sally Mbanefo, who toured certain areas of Abuja on the city tour buses, as expressing optimism that this novel idea of open top buses would boost tourist activities in the Federal Capital Territory, given its hospitable metropolitan feel.
She added that it would also offer visitors and residents in Abuja the opportunity of touring the FCT in specially built eco-friendly open-roof tour buses.
“The tour is best suited for those who might want to explore Abuja on a spectacular scale; those keen on making good use of their leisure and those even desirous of enjoying quality time with family or friends,” she said.
The DG expressed excitement about the establishment of the City Sightseeing Abuja and applauded its management for actualising such a dream in Abuja.
The statement said, “City Sightseeing Abuja plies over 14 designated stops, cutting across 24 exciting sights such as the National Assembly, Wonderland Amusement Park, Silverbird Galleria, Millennium Park, National Park & Zoo, among others.”
