A second half fight back from the Egyptian U-23 national team saw them sharing the points with their Nigerian counterparts in the ongoing AFCON U-23 championship Group B match played Wednesday night.
Nigeria had raced to a 2:0 lead by the half hour mark with the hope of cruising into the semi-final stage but the Egyptians struck back in quick succession after the interval.
Midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo converted two penalties in the first half, one on the 20th and the second on the 30th minutes to put the Nigerian side ahead after the Egyptians handled the ball in the area in both occasions.
However, Ramadan Ahmed headed home at close range in the 46th minute to put the Egyptians back on track.
On the 51st minute, a fierce attack on the right flank saw Chisoba Amuefuile turning a cross into his own net to put the Egyptians on level.
With this result, the Dream Team sits second with four points on the log behind Algeria who only leads on goal difference.
Nigeria will have to record a win against Algeria in the final group match to be sure of qualification to the semi-final stage as Egypt have two points and a win over Mali may push them ahead of both Nigeria and Algeria on goal difference.
