The FBI decided to reopen the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails only after it realized that Donald Trump was winning with a landslide in early voting, says Stephen Lendman, an American writer, journalist and political commentator.
Lendman believes that the FBI was involved in “rigging the game” for Clinton from the beginning and its latest move was a face-saving measure for the Democratic presidential candidate.
On Friday, just days ahead of the November 8 election, FBI Director James Comey dropped a bombshell on the Clinton campaign by announcing the revival of the investigation into thousands of new emails sent by Clinton as secretary of state.
Following the FBI’s announcement, Clinton’s unpopularity among American voters has reached a new high, according to a new poll, putting her on par with her Republican rival Trump.
The latest findings by the ABC News/Washington Post Tracking Poll, released on Monday, show that 59 percent of registered voters have an unfavourable view of Clinton, and an identical percentage of voters dislike Trump.
According to the poll, Trump reduced Clinton’s 12-point lead from last week to only one percentage point, trailing her 45 percent to 46 percent.
Lendman told Press TV on Monday that polls were rigged in favour of Clinton, and the FBI also helped the former first lady by closing the investigation in July while a lot of evidence was available to incriminate her.
“The FBI did the rigging itself last July saying despite all this evidence against Hillary Clinton – there are mountains of it – they said they couldn’t find anything that was incriminating,” he said.
They said she “made mistakes, she was sloppy, and she was this, and she was that but she didn’t commit any crimes, knowing that she did commit crimes. And apparently internally in the FBI there were a lot of upset people in the FBI that let this thing go by,” he stated.
The analyst said, “So we’re wondering and I am still puzzled that why did the FBI, why did James Comey on Friday, within days of the November 8, say he was reopening the investigation into the emails that were discovered” on a laptop belonging to Anthony Weiner, a former US congressman who was married to Clinton’s top aide, Huma Abedin, until their divorce in late August.
Lendman said that t a lot of early voting takes place in America by absentee ballots, “and something like 20 odd million votes have already been cast, and the inside information is that Trump is winning big.”
“And I suspect, and I am not the only one who feels this way, that maybe this is the main reason that the FBI reopened the investigation, not expecting to find anything more that’s already known about Hillary’s emails, but it wants to do something to save face,” he argued. – Press TV.
