Aka Ikenga condemns allegations against Ihejirika

Aka Ikenga, the Igbo Think Tank, has condemned the linking of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Azubuike Ihejirika as one of the major sponsors of Boko haram, describing the allegation as satanic.

In a statement yesterday in Lagos, Chief Goddy Uwazurike, President General of the group said it was ” satanic machination and conspiracy of the anti-Nigeria mafia in the ridiculous attempt to demonize Ihejirika.”
The statement read: “We can say, without any fear of contradiction that Gen Ihejirika served this country meritoriously and, indeed, was so good that the anti-Nigeria Mafia threatened to report him to the international criminal Court for the way he subdued Boko Haram. We waited endlessly for this report.

“Today, the same anti-Nigeria Mafia has conducted another propaganda after conspiring with a phantom “Davis” that ihejirika is a sponsor, of the same Boko Haram that he fought against gallantly!

“Is this not standing logic on its head? Boko Haram started under Obasanjo Government in 2002. Malam El- Rufai was a key member of Obasanjo’s Government from 1999 to 2006. Late President Yar’Adua fought Boko Haram in 2009 while El- Rufai was doing further studies abroad. He returned as soon as Goodluck Jonathan became the president of Nigeria and was, indeed, one of those speculated to be angling for the seat of the vice President.

“Today, El-Rufai is remembered as the one who quoted the phantom “Davis” as the man hired by the late Yar’Adua. He, El-Rufai has also quoted the statement of “Davis” that a Former Governor of Borno and a dismissed Army Chief and a former Central Bank Chief are the sponsors of Boko Haram!

“The Northern Elders Forum and of course the 75 year old Chairman of APC have stridently called for the prosecution of Sheriff and Ihejirika! Proof? “Davis” said he was told by Boko Haram that the three (3) were their sponsors!!!

“We can understand the Northern Elders Forum for “fiddling while Nigeria burns” but the Gov. Oyegun knows that he holds a very important post in this country and should not allow himself to be stampeded into running with the hares and hunting with the hounds!

“Those hypocritical elements whose past time is running down this country with propaganda should remember that “Goebelism” has a short life span. They should remember that setting this country ablaze with vicious rumour is sabotage! Today, the North East part of this country is burning while the saboteurs are rejoicing that they are disgracing President Jonathan!

“For record purposes, General Ihejirika served as Army Chief under 2 Chiefs of Defence Staff and retired with honour and dignity! He was not dismissed1 He was not disgraced at all!! He deserves his status as a distinguished general!!!

“On Gov Sheriff, he was a founding father of APC and if APC has any evidence against him, it can do this country a lot of good by exposing it.
Let us support this country to fight terrorism! Do not demoralise our Soldiers! Do not rubbish the image of this country!! Learn to be patriotic! There is no alternative!”
