Crowd welcomes Sanusi to Emir’s Palace

Jubilant crowed crammed all roads leading to the Palace of Emir of Kano to welcome the 57th Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanisu, yesterday about 3pm, who finally left the Kano Government House where he had been a host for five days.
The journey of only 10 minutes or less from Kano Government House to the Kano Emir’s palace took the new emir and his entourage over two hours due to the huge crowd of friends, supporters and well wishers.

His convoy was guarded by police escort, Kano state government officials. The new Emir was slowly driven round the Kofar Nasarawa area and emirate palace roads in a classic old Rolls Royce with the inscription “Amir Kano”.
About 6pm, Emir Sanusi arrived at Kofar Kudu, entrance of the Kano emirate palace, where he came down from the car and climbed on a white horse which, according to tradition, was the only means to be used to enter the palace.
It’s the tradition that a new door has to be made for the new Emir to pass through.
Also, Emir Sanusi had to go through the spiritual traditional process of residing in a small room (Soron Mallam) for two days.
The new Emir had in his convoy the Emir’s guards, top government functionaries, traditional title holders, businessmen, women and children.
Sanusi was received by all members of the family of the late Emir Sanusi, his grandfather, and that of the late Emir Ibrahim Dabo.
earlier in the day, Sanusi led the Jumaat prayer at the Government House Jumaat Mosque.
The new Emir Sanusi, who gave a Friday summons, called on leaders to fear Allah in their dealings.
Emir Sanusi reminded all that he was not the king because he was better than any but the will of Allah.
He then urged followers to side with him in good deeds and desert him if he went astray.
