Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has said that the interest of the All Progressives Congress is bigger than the personal aspirations of individual members.
Atiku made the assertion in a message on Friday while welcoming delegates of the APC from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to the party’s inaugural convention where its national executive committee will emerge at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
He urged APC leaders and aspirants to put the interest of the party above their personal ambitions.
According to the former vice-president, it is only a strong and viable APC that will provide a solid foundation for the aspirations of its members.
Atiku said, “It is imperative for us as members of the APC to put the interest of the party far and above our individual aspirations because to do otherwise will be akin to putting the cart before the horse.”
He urged aspirants not to jump the gun but to wait for the conclusion of the convention which would have in place an executive of the party that would draw up guidelines for the APC primaries.
Atiku urged the party’s national convention planning committee to work assiduously towards turning out a hitch-free exercise.
